The fall of Judy

Punch sports a maniacal smile and wide eyes that are blind to the truth. He seems oblivious to Judy’s anguish as she lies crumpled, bruised and terrified on the ground. The animal like figure with an abstract face tries to comfort her. The composition speaks of the madness and mayhem of a household where domestic abuse runs rife and from which there is no escape.
